TEXAS BARGE STRIKES BRIDGE, FUEL LEAKING INTO RIVER.

BARGE ALLISON COLLIDES WITH BRIDGE AT PELICAN ISLAND CAUSEWAY IN TEXAS

5/15/24. 10 AM. TEXAS

Barge "Allison" has collided with the bridge at Pelican Island Causeway in Texas.

Reports are of oil spillage from the 30,000 gal (?) of oil on the barge

A portion of the bridge has collapsed.

NOTE: this bridge is the access from Pelican Island to the City of Galveston. That access is effectively cut until a survey of damage to the bridge has been made.

NOTE: this is the third bridge strike by a vessel in the last couple months.

1. Francis Scott Key Bridge (container ship is still being removed)

2. The Fort Madison Bridge in Iowa (barge sank into Mississippi)

3. Barge Allison strikes Pelican Island (oil spill)

Sources report oil spill into the river. Barge contains approx. 30,000 gals of oil.
